We need to get my fiance’s qualifications Verified.

The problem we are facing, my fiance graduated from a College in 2007. This College (and Course)was accredited by Umalusi and Casstheta a few months before he graduated (he enrolled in 2005)

When we went to the Department of Higher Education, they said that they could not attest his qualifications , reason being: On his Certificate it states that he successfully completed the course in 2007 (and not 2009 when the college was registered with the Department) and also because it did not state on the Diploma ” National Certificate in Professional cookery NQF level 4 ,as the programme was registered as such at the Department.

We then went Cathsseta( College was accredited by Cathsseta and Umalusi in 2007, we have letters to verify this), and they also did not want to help , Reason being: The College never registered my fiance on Cathsseta’s database and also because on his Diploma it does not state “National certificate in Professional cookery NQF level 4”

Basicly no one wants to verify that his qualifications are legit.

Can we ask the College to give proof that the course my fiance did at the time, is equal to the course which they are accredited and registered for at the present moment?

All we need, is someone to verify / attest his qualifications so he can start work in June.

Firstly thank you for your time, I am currently at a crossroad and have untill Friday (10/05/13) to decide which direction to go. I have my N4, subjects are industrial electronics, maths, electrotechnics and refrigeration. My problem is that the current Tech does not offer refrigeration N5 and I want to do fluid mechanics as well or in the place of industrial electronics. Where can I study Refrigeration N5? Or should I apply at UNISA for a mechanical degree? My direction will be refrigeration engineering. Any suggestions.

If you have N4, the next step is a Diploma which is offered at various Universities of Technology and some combined Universities.

Hi. I want to further my career in the technology field, but i can not do so because I did not do Life Sciences in high school (which I completed in 2012). I want to do a bridging course in Life Sciences. If this can be done, where and how can i apply for the course?

This is a question I am asking on behalf of my girlfriend.

She has done certificates in various skills as a medical technician and has the same skills if not more than colleagues with a degree in the field.

However, exployers love to know that someone has a degree. What are her options for getting the degree certificate for skills she already has?

Is there an institution that will simply do exams, or a distance learning opportunity in this field. Her matric subject also arent quite right for a University since she doesn’t have science, but she has been working in the field for 5 years. It;s really a bit ridiculous. Please help.

We sympathise with your girlfriend; it is often difficult when you have the skills, but not the piece of paper. Unfortunately in the Medical field, where lives are at stake, the authority lies with the HEALTH PROFESSSIONS COUNCIL OF SA (HPCSA) which sets the standards and the courses one must pass. http://www.hpcsa.co.za/board_medtech_education.php
