Glass instrument makers https://careerplanet.co.za/careers-listing/glass-instrument-makers/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=glass-instrument-makers Tue, 02 Oct 2018 19:40:44 +0000 http://edevstage.co.za/cp/careers-listing/glass-instrument-makers/ They manufacture scientific apparatus according to the specifications of the scientist requiring the apparatus, or according to standard specifications. Other specifications are usually given in the form of a sketch. Sometimes glass instrument makers design the instruments themselves. The work of glass instrument makers involves the bending and forming of glass tubes, the blowing of reactor valves and the forming of gas waste-pipes, the partial machining of basic glass components and taps, as well as the mounting of such components by melting them together to form a complete apparatus. They make use of various techniques in the formation of glass components.

Glass Blower https://careerplanet.co.za/careers-listing/glass-blower/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=glass-blower Tue, 02 Oct 2018 19:40:44 +0000 http://edevstage.co.za/cp/careers-listing/glass-blower/ They use moulds, tongs, palette knives, wooden blocks and other implements to give the glass the required shape. Very large glass items that are too big to be made by mouth blowing are made on a lathe. A glassblower may work from an engineering drawing if producing scientific or electronic items, or may use their imagination and creativity to produce artistic pieces. Nowadays some glass items which need to be of uniform size and quality, such as light bulbs and bottles, are produced by fully-automated processes.
