HOW DO I QUALIFY FOR A TRADE TEST?
TRADE TEST CATEGORIES
The Manpower Training Act MO56 of 1981 makes provision for two categories of candidates to undergo a trade test. Candidates need to contact the relevant SETA to establish their eligibility for a Trade Test for the trades listed above.
SECTION 26: Candidates: for registered, indentured apprentices.
SECTION 286 (D) Candidates: for candidates who are not registered apprentices, but who have worked in the industry for a number of years, and have attained trade-related experience.
If you’ve been employed in the industry in trade-related work for at least 4 to 5 years, and are not sure of your competency level, you can attend a two-day practical evaluation at Westlake Campus. This will provide you with a clear indication of any gap training that you may need before applying for a qualifying trade test at the relevant SETA.
If you have met all the criteria at the relevant SETA to undergo a qualifying trade test, we also offer various trade-related “top-up” programmes.
The relevant Trade Test can be taken at your convenience at the Westlake Campus.
All Level Testing for Automotive Body Repairer (Panel Beater), and Spray painter can be done at the Westlake campus as well.
