Our background:
Career Planet is a registered NPO that was founded in 2007. We have been helping young people with career advice and access to training and career opportunities since we went operational in 2008.
During the years 2008 – 2012, our website service was combined with career planning workshops around the Western Cape. These incredible journeys took us to rural and urban community centres, schools, colleges and universities around the province. We had the opportunity to share career and training-related knowledge and skills with thousands of young people, but even more importantly – we learned a lot about the frustrations that young people everywhere face in terms of access to information and opportunities.
We knew we could make a difference, and we wanted to reach more people in more provinces.
With the generous help of the DG Murray Trust, we developed and launched our mobi site in 2012. We’ve walked a long road since then, and have accumulated a rich set of resources to help support people in search of information and access to training and work-related opportunities.
In January 2018 we partnered with Bright Eyes Publishing to add a printed Careers Guide to our platform. The Complete South African Careers Guide is available in over 2100 stores in South Africa (including Spar, Checkers, Checkers Hyper, Shoprite, Game & CNA).
