Legislator
JOB DESCRIPTION:
A Legislator is a person, generally in government, who writes and passes laws. They are most often elected by the people (public).
TYPICAL TASKS:
- attending meetings and debates
- researching subject matter
- making sure ‘law’ is appropriate and the possible effects it will have
- drafting, discussing and voting on laws
ARE YOU…

TRAINING:
Depending on what area you’d like to specialize in, a background in political science and/or law or economics for example, would be extremely beneficial, almost compulsory. See ‘Lawyer‘ or ‘Attorney’ etc on our site for more study details.

Offers various degrees to start off your law career:
Students register for a Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Social Science (BSocSci), Bachelor of Business Science (BBusSci) or Bachelor of Science (BSc) in their first year of study and continue with that degree with Legal Theory as a major subject.
From here you can continue to study an LLB – and do Constitutional Law.
