What is a Scuba Diving Instructor?

Scuba Diving Instructors are Divemasters who teach recreational diving and train those who want certification.

They can work in a variety of settings such as accredited dive centres, resorts and on cruise ships.

To become a Diving Instructor, you should be a regular open water diver and have taken basic and/or advanced diving courses. 

These courses will require you to complete numerous open water speciality dives:

  • deep diving
  • navigation
  • first aid training
  • emergency first responder training
  • dive boat operation training
  • instructional dive trip training, etc

You will have to pass practical exams to become a certified Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI).

What does a Scuba Diving Instructor do?
