Water Service Works Operator
Waste water is transported by drainpipes from houses and industries to water purification works. There the water service works operator:
– manipulates pumps, valve and other equipment to extract impurities from the water
– interprets readings on the meters to ensure a smooth running process
– controls the addition of chemicals to purify the water
– takes samples of the water to be analysed in the laboratory
– repairs pumps and valves if necessary
– supervises workers responsible for maintaining the plant and cleaning the tanks and canals
– performs basic administrative tasks.
The water service works operator assists a water service works technician. You will work indoors in the water purification plant and will be exposed to the noise of machines and unpleasant odours.
