What is a Mining Engineer?
A Mining Engineer is a kind of mechanical engineer. They are responsible for coming up with ideas and systems to make mining safer, cleaner and more efficient.
Mining can be extremely dangerous, so the work of the Mining Engineer is very important.
Some Mining Engineers might specialise in:
- Research
- Designing new equipment
- Construction of mine shafts

What does a Mining Engineer do?
